Sisig Tofu

Sisig Tofu

My gf's personal favorite, but with more mayo

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp liquid seasoning
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Butter
  • Optional: calamansi, a pinch of sugar
  • 1/2 white onion, diced
  • 1 block firm tofu, cut into small cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 3 green chillies, sliced

Steps

  1. Deep fry or air fry tofu until golden brown and crispy.
  2. Make the sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, oyster sauce, liquid seasoning, pepper, and optional calamansi or sugar. Mix until smooth.
  3. In a pan, melt butter and sauté onions.
  4. Add bell peppers and chillies. Cook until slightly softened.
  5. Add the fried tofu and toss gently.
  6. Remove from heat and pour in the sauce mixture.
  7. Mix until everything is evenly coated.

Notes

  • Add calamansi for brightness or a pinch of sugar for balance.
  • Adjust the creaminess by adding more or less mayonnaise. I prefer to use Japanese Kewpie mayo since it’s richer in texture as well as taste.
